CWEIC: Indian trade mission draws to a close
Having spent almost a week in Cameroon, the main objective of this visit by businessmen from the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) was to acquaint themselves with Cameroon's business and trade environment, as well as to create niches for collaboration between public-private sector institutions in priority sectors within the framework of Cameroon's National Development Strategy (NDS30).
At the end of this trip to Cameroon, the CII officials seized the opportunity to visit CWEIC's sub-regional office for Cameroon, Gabon, and Togo, and then held a working session with the Port Authority of Douala (PAD) under the coordination of Mr. Owono Ndi Bertrand, Technical Advisor No. 2. The latter outlined projects that might be of interest to Indian investors and shared PAD's project bank with them, hoping to receive an expression of interest that would trigger collaboration.
Their next stop was with the Chief of the Littoral I Customs Sector, to gain insight into customs procedures, foreign investor incentives the State of Cameroon put in place, and the various rebates offered per category of goods to those planning to set up shop in Cameroon.
This trade mission ended with a visit to the CNSC’s Douala Maritime Museum, where they were visibly satisfied with the quality of the expositions, and particularly thanked the Chairman of the CWEIC Hub, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, for the fruitful collaboration through the CWEIC network.
