On 18 March 2021, the Minister of Transport, Mr. Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe officially opened the Centre Regional Office of the Cameroon National Shippers’ Council (CNSC) in Yaounde. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, M. Gabriel Mbairobe and many other guests.
The CNSC Regional Office is out to provide businesses, Cameroonian, Chadian and Central African transporters and truckers the information they need for the day-to-day conduct of their foreign trade operations in Cameroon. “This is the third CNSC Regional Office in Cameroon. Our goal is to be effectively present along the corridors so as to facilitate goods transport," Auguste Mbappe Penda, CNSC General Manager said at the end of the ceremony.
The CNSC is tasked with providing assistance to shippers throughout the transport and international trade chain. CNSC's Centre Regional Office will therefore help business persons in their day-to-day activities, promote and facilitate foreign trade and also bring the CNSC closer to public administrations. Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda noted that the latter, notably ministries, always carry out import operations without being aware of the facilities granted to them. "I wish to underscore here that the CNSC assists shippers free of charge as that constitutes our contribution towards our country's development," he added. After the Centre Region, the CNSC will open its Far North Regional Office in Kousseri in the coming weeks.
