AAEI takes shape
CNSC hosts the launch of US export activities.
On 28 November 2018, the American Chamber of Commerce of Cameroon (AMCHAM) and the African Women Entrepreneurship Programme Cameroon (AWEP) abbreviated AWEP AMCHAM EXPORT INITIATIVE (AAEI), launched their activities in Douala. The event was attended by Mrs. Sita Chakrawarti, Consul General of the Embassy of the United States. AAEI seeks to create a collaboration framework for boosting Cameroonian exports to the USA. The event brought together business persons who are keen on making the most of AGOA business opportunities.
The launch that was done in partnership with the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Crafts (CCIMA) and the CNSC saw the holding, at the CNSC, of a training seminar themed, "Opportunities of Exporting to the United States of America through the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA)”. The seminar comprised practical workshops on how to export to the USA.
In his welcoming remarks, the CNSC General Manager, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, harped on CNSC's interest in the AGOA program, demonstrated by CNSC's active participation in the 16th AGOA Forum that held in Togo in August 2017.
Taking the floor, Ms. Sita Chakrawarti lauded the initiative to pool efforts in Cameroon. Mrs. Gordon Acha, President of AMCHAM Cameroon, called on Cameroonians to make the most of the AGOA opportunities to help boost the economy of their country. Attendees were enlightened on the AGOA program. Mr. Olivier Dimala, Head of the AGOA-CCIMA Resources Centre, dwelled on the procedures in force. Ms. Caroline Sack Kendem, President of AWEP-Cameroon, focused on textile exports. Mrs. Laure Djoukam, member of the AMCHAM Trade and Finance Committee, harped on SME financing opportunities. Finally, Mr. Etienne Cham, Chief of Service for Foreign Trade Promotion at the CNSC, focused on AGOA success stories. At the end, attendees were awarded attendance certificates.
