International trade : Consultation on freight forwarder profession

The 18th annual meeting of the Africa and Middle East Region (RAME) held in Douala from May 3 to 5 May 2018 under the auspices of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA). The meeting, which held for the first time in French-speaking Africa under the theme: "Logistics, the engine of economic growth", was organised and hosted by the National Union of Transport and Transit Auxiliaries (SYNAUTRATRA) chaired by Mr. Richard Mfeungwang.
RAME has the challenge to train and build the capacities of transit sector players in Africa. "In Africa, this aspect is still to receive the expected attention. This hinders the ability of our transit industry to meet the ever-changing needs of the supply chain,” Stephen Ngatunga, sitting RAME Chair said. There is therefore the need to increase the competitiveness of freight forwarders in the logistics market through training in view of making them real professionals. This is very true in Cameroon, especially with the effective commencement of activities at the Kribi Port, the ongoing modernisation of the Douala Port and the restructuring of the supply chain in Cameroon.
